HOW TO ENTER

All you need to do is fill in an Online Entry Form or download an Entry Form, complete the details and send it off. You can do this by selecting the highlighted links.You also need to be a social member of the Club as this covers all the insurance requirements.

If you are not already a member you need to pay an additional $15.00 to become a New Member. All adults, 18 years and over are required, for insurance purposes, to become members of the Rainbow Beach Sports Club. Children entering the competition, up to 18 years, must have a parent or guardian who is a member of the club representing them. The parent/Guardian’s membership number must be provided on the entry form at purchase of ticket or you must select  “NEW MEMBER”.

Fees stated on the entry form exclude social membership to the Club. Before entering, you must read the rules + regulations.

 Once you have filled out your entry form and sent it into us, Please allow 14 working days and a receipt will be forwarded. Membership Cards & Fishing Cards will not be sent in the mail,  they will be available for pickup from 4:00pm on Friday, 19 July 2019

REFUND POLICY

The competitor is entitled to a full refund of fees paid, less $25 administration fee and agrees, that to be eligible for a refund of any nature an application for a refund must be submitted in writing to the Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Competition registrations Manager no later than 5.00pm Friday 12th of July, 2019. Refund applications received after this date will be denied. The competitor accepts that should any fees arise by their financial institution as a result of a dishonored payment on a cheque or credit card debit, the competitor will be responsible for any such fees and will be ineligible to participate until such time as those fees are paid. All entrants are open to fish in all categories. 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Entries Submitted during the event will be subject to a 24 hour waiting period before those entries can be weigh-in.

Children can ONLY fish in the beach category (NOT OFFSHORE).

No more than ONE fish of the same species can be weighed-in.

Fish MUST be gilled, gutted and all Reef fish must have the pectoral fin cut.

*** Some size limits are greater than those set by the DPI. Please make sure you are aware of this competition size limits set out in the table above ***.

To be eligible to weigh-into the BIG FISH species the fish must be over 8kgs and comply with the DPI species size and catch rates. Other competition species are NOT eligible to weigh-in to this category.

PRICING

Please note that due to public requests the Junior category has been changed to include children up to 13 years of age.  However if you would like to register a child 10yrs or older into the Cadet category you are able to do so by paying the Cadet entry fee.

RULES + REGULATIONS

 

OFFICIAL START: 4:00pm Friday, 19th July 2019. 

First weigh-in: 4:00pm Saturday, 20th July 2019.

ENTRY

The entry fee is paid only once, you may fish 1 day or 8 days.

Identification card must be presented at all weigh-in’s.

Entry fee must be paid before the official opening in order to be eligible for weigh-in on the first day, Saturday 20th July 2019.

To be eligible to weigh-in an entry fee must be paid 24 hours prior to weighing-in.

 (a)  All fish must be weighed on official scales provided by organizers to be eligible.

(b)  All fish presented to the scales must be taken on rod and reel or hand line.

(c)  No undersize fish weighed-in.

(d)  No more than (1) fish of the same species can be weighed-in on any one night.

(e)  Weigh-in’s will be conducted daily from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm. Last weigh-in on Saturday 27th July 2019, will be from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

(f)  All fish weighed-in must be Gilled, Gutted and reef fish must have

the pectoral Finn cut. NO WHOLE FISH or REEF FISH PECTORAL FINN UNCUT will be weighed-in.

(g)  All fish caught during the competition must adhere to all recreational fishing regulation governed by the DPI. All fish caught must be within size and bag limits, including the Pectoral Finn cut.

(h) Drone fishing is strictly prohibited.

(i)  Only (1) fish can win (1) major prize.

(j)  Any fish deemed to be more than 24 hours since being caught in the opinion of the official judges will be disqualified—THE JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL.`

FRAUD

Any evidence of fraud such as fish more than 24 hours since being caught, fish transported from other than offshore and inlet waters of Rainbow Beach, netted fish, or any action in defiance of the rules and good will of the competition will be placed in the hands of the Police in attendance.

BOUNDARIES

Fishing boundaries are Eurong to the North and Noosa North Shore to the South. In order to protect the Grey Nurse Shark habitat, there is a 1.5 km radius restriction of fishing around Wolf Rock.

FISHING PRIZES

 (a)  In order for a fish to win a prize, the fish must be in categories nominated.

(b)  No sharks, rays, or vermin, QLD groper, or cod will be accepted.

(c)  (1) fish can only win (1) Major Prize.

(d)  All boats are required to comply with Queensland Boating Regulations.

(e)  All prizes must be claimed nightly and are not our responsibility.

Authorized people can be nominated but must be submitted to Sports Club Office before presentation.

(f)  Winner of lucky entry prize must be present at the draw.

LIABILITY

The competitors nominated notes that The Rainbow Beach Sport’s, Recreation and Memorial Club INC excepts no liability for any Injury, loss, damage of any person during the competition, whether such injury or loss is due to any act, neglect or default of The Rainbow Beach Sport’s, Recreation and Memorial Club INC or of any official or agent there- of and all competitors fully understand that in so participating, they do so entirety at their own risk.

BAD WEATHER

 (a) If the event organizers or the COAST GUARD deem the crossing of the Wide Bay Bar unsafe, participants are expected to adhere to these warnings. Event organizers reserve the right to rule fish ineligible if safety warnings have been breeched.

JUDGES DECISION IS FINAL. 

(a) Reference Book will be E.N. Grant’s Guide to Fishes 2004 Commemorative 10th Edition.

(b) THE MANAGEMENT SHALL HAVE THE ABSOLUTE RIGHT TO EXCLUDE ANYONE FROM THE COMPETITION WITHOUT GIVING ANY REASON WHAT SO EVER.

FINAL DRAW RULES

(a) To be eligible for draw you must have paid the entry fee.

(b) (3) entry numbers will be drawn each night after the weigh-in, making a total of (24) eligible entrant. These draws will be at random between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm.

(c) In each draw the entrant possessing the number announced must present him/herself with Fishing Comp I.D and photographic I.D eg. Drivers license within one minute of drawing or another draw will occur.

(d) During the Major Trophy Presentation on Saturday 27 July 2019, (1) entry will be drawn from the already drawn eligible (24) numbers, by drawing (23) numbers first, making the last number the winner.

(e) Before the draw commences all (24) eligible entrants will be required to present themselves, when called to the stage within (2) minutes or be disqualified from the draw.

(f) When the winner of the final draw, Saturday 27 July 2019, has been identified to the satisfaction of the organizers than that entrant will win the Major Prize.

(g) With the (24) eligible numbers drawn, (23) entrants shall receive a consolation prize.

(h) No entrant can be drawn twice or more among the (24) eligible entrants.

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

The competitor consents to the publication and/or use in any form of merchandise or media whatsoever of their name, image, voice, results, statements or otherwise, without payment or compensation and agree that they will reasonably expect to receive marketing material, such as e-news and entry forms, from Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Competition.

NOTE

Any action, incident or situation not covered by the rules and conditions written in this Entry Form shall be determined co-jointly by the organizing committee of The Rainbow Beach Sport’s, Recreation and Memorial Club INC and the Official Judge if or when those conditions arise. Their Decision is Final.

BOAT COMPETITORS

(a)  All vessels must have current Queensland registration or registration recognized in Queensland and must have the registration numbers displayed on both sides of the vessel.

(b)  Boat skippers must be the holder of a Queensland speedboat driver’s license or a boat license recognized in Queensland.

(c)  All vessels must carry all the safety equipment as required by the Queensland Marine Regulations.

(d)  In the interest of safety it is mandatory that all offshore boats are outfitted with marine radios and an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon)

(e)  All vessels must contact the coast guard prior to and after each day fishing and provide their competitor number.

(f)  Commercial fisherman & commercial vessels must participate as recreational fisherman, adhering to all rules and regulations that apply to recreational fisherman & their vessels.

(g)  Any fish caught during the competition are prohibited to be sold.

(h)  ANY FISH presented at weigh-in with missing tail fins or any other fin except pectoral fin—WILL BE INELIGIBLE

CHARTER BOATS

(a)  Charter Boat skippers/owners are responsible for ensuring, fish caught on their boats by competitors are weighed in by the person WHO caught the fish. This is in the fairness and spirit of the competition.

(b)  In order to police this, all fish caught on Charter Boats MUST have a coloured zip tag to distinguish and identify ownership of that fish.

FAQ'S

What can I fish for?

This year there are (4) categories as follows:

Beach fish Category includes; Flathead, Bream, Dart, Whiting & Tailor. Jew Fish Category includes; Jew fish.

Reef fish category includes; Snapper, Red Emperor, Pearl Perch, Parrot, Sweet Lip.

Big Fish Category; for fish over 8kg and does NOT include any of the above species or Cod, Rays, Shark and Bill Fish.

Both Adults and Veterans are invited to fish in all categories and are unrestricted, however, Cadets are restricted to Beach & Reef Fish Categories and are not permitted to fish the Jew or Big fish category.

Kids Category:  Beach Fish only

Do I have to fish all the time?

NO – the event runs for (8) days and you can fish for one day or all eight. We have encompassed a full weekend so those local people who can’t get the time off work can still participate during the 1st full weekend and still be part of the grand finale, as we finish the following Saturday. You don’t even have to catch a fish or fish for that matter to have a chance at the major prizes.

What are Kids Day, Veterans Day & Ladies Day?

Kids Day is on the 1st Sunday of the event, 21st July 2019. All kids activities are all free for the kids after 3:00pm. Every child on the day entered into the competition will receive a gift bag.

Veterans Day is on Tuesday 23rd July 2019. Competitors over the age of 60, “Veteran classification” are able to compete against each other with the opportunity to win species 1st & 2nd prizes in addition to the open competition species 1st and 2nd prizes. “Double the chance”.

Ladies Day is on Thursday the 25th July 2019. All women in the adult classification are able to compete against each other with the opportunity to win species 1st & 2nd prizes in addition to the open competition species 1st and 2nd prizes. “Double the chance”.
